asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when the Interception of Communications Act 1985 will be brought into force; and if he will make a statement.

The provisions of the Interception of Communications Act will come into force on 10 April 1986.

The following have accepted appointment as members of the tribunal under section 7 and schedule 2 to the Act:

The Right hon. The Lord Fraser of Tullybelton—President

Sir Cecil Clothier KCB QC—Vice-President

Mr. David Calcutt QC

Mr. Ivor Guild CBE WS

Mr. Peter Scott QC

The right hon. Lord Justice Lloyd has been appointed commissioner under section 8 of the Act. The right hon. The Lord Bridge of Harwich, who has been judicial monitor of interception arrangements since 1982, will relinquish this appointment when Lord Justice Lloyd takes up his duties.
