HC Deb 26 February 1986 vol 92 cc582-3W
17. Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the performance and administration of the enterprise zones in Scotland.

Mr. Allan Stewart

The Industry Department for Scotland monitors closely the performance of Scotland's three enterprise zones and I am pleased with the progress made there. Clydebank is one of the United Kingdom's most successful zones and one of the largest in employment terms, with 3,000 jobs created since designation. The Invergordon and Tayside zones have been in operation for a shorter period than Clydebank, but good progress has already been made. The administration of individual enterprise zone schemes is the responsibility of the respective zone authorities.
