HC Deb 26 February 1986 vol 92 cc580-1W
Mr. Squire

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will detail the organisations and individuals who contributed an overall view against the Government's Green Paper on copyright.

Mr. Pattie

The Green Paper "The Recording and Rental of Audio and Video Copyright Material" (Cmnd. 9445), published in February 1985, proposed the introduction of a levy on blank recording tape. As more than 1,000 responses were received, the details requested could be provided only at disproportionate cost. However, those opposed to a levy included organisations representing consumers, blind people and tape manufacturers, along with a majority of individual respondents.
