§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Minister for the Arts whether he will list the objects and property accepted in satisfaction of capital transfer tax since the answer of 2 April 1985, Official Report, columns 577–8; and if, in listing them, he will specify (a) the amount of tax satified in each case, (b) whether any offer of objects carried conditions as to destination, (c) the dates in each case of the recommendations received by him from the Museums and Galleries Commission for acceptance of objects and (d) the total of tax thus satisfied; and whether a press notice will be issued from the Office of Arts and Libraries covering the information given in his reply.

In addition, I have corresponded with the chairman of the Museums and Galleries Commission about a number of other cases, in the majority of which ownership has not yet been transferred formally to the Government. It is therefore not appropriate to give details of these at present. However, I hope to be in a position to make a further announcement shortly, and to issue a press notice including the above information.
