Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will provide figures indicating the amount spent by the Health Education Council on the prevention of alcohol abuse during the years 1980 to 1985 inclusive;

(2) if he will provide figures indicating the amount spent by the Health Education Council on the prevention of drug abuse during the years 1980 to 1985 inclusive.

The amounts made available to statutory and voluntary organisations by the Department specifically to provide services for alcohol abusers for the financial years in question are as follows:
