HC Deb 24 February 1986 vol 92 c439W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made, or plans to make, to the Turkish Prime Minister, Mr. Turgut Ozal, concerning the fate of 1,619 missing Greek Cypriots who were taken prisoners following the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974.

Mr. Eggar

The United Nations intercommunal committee on missing persons in Cyprus offers the best prospect of helpng those affected by this tragic problem which involves both communities in Cyprus. Separate representations would cut across the committee's delicate and difficult task.
