HC Deb 24 February 1986 vol 92 cc439-41W
Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what efforts have been made to seek to secure the return of the four Badreddine children who are currently being detained against their will by their father in Tunisia, in breach of English High Court orders.

Mr. Eggar

The existence of the High Court orders has been brought to the attention of the Tunisian authorities and Her Majesty's consul has discussed the case with the Director of Consular Affairs in the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The limitations on the action we can take in cases of this type were fully described in the Adjournment debate of the 20 of December 1985 at columns 730–732.

Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he has been in contact with President Bourghiba of Tunisia concerning the return of the four Badgreddine children who are currently being detained against their will by their father in Tunisia, in breach of English High Court orders.

Mr. Eggar
