HC Deb 24 February 1986 vol 92 c429W
Mr. St. John-Stevas

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what proposal he is currently considering for changes in the structure of the Royal College of Music; what consultations he has had on the matter; and what representations he has received in support of such proposals.

Sir Keith Joseph

I have received proposals from the Royal Academy of Music for its future academic development involving a restructuring of courses and a reduction in the number of its students. I have held meetings about the training of talented young musicians with leading figures in the music world and with the heads of the music colleges at which these and other possible proposals were discussed.
