§ Mr. Bellasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what representations have been received from the international community in support of the Anglo-Irish agreement; and what specific offers have been made for financial assistance for economic development in Northern Irish areas which have suffered from the consequences of the recent instability.
§ Mr. ScottFollowing the signing of the Anglo-Irish agreement on 15 November last year, public messages of welcome were sent by the Governments of the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Denmark and Greece and by the European Commission, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and the United Nations.
While United Kingdom and Irish Republic officials have been involved in discussions with representatives from various parts of the international community, no formal proposals have yet been made.
