HC Deb 18 February 1986 vol 92 cc97-8W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Prime Minister on what date Sir Robert Armstrong was originally scheduled to return from his visit to Honolulu in connection with preparations for the economic summit; why he returned to the United Kingdom before this date; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

In his capacity as my personal representative for the purposes of preparing the 1986 economic summit, Sir Robert Armstrong attended a meeting of Personal Representatives held in Honolulu from Friday 31 January until Sunday 2 February. He planned to stop over in Washington for two days on his way back, but returned to this country direct in order to be available in case he was invited to appear before the Select Committee on Defence, as in the event he was.
