HL Deb 18 February 1986 vol 471 c612WA
Baroness Nicol

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state the total cost of the A.10 to M.11 section of the M.25 motorway, at current prices, and also the total cost of all environmental works undertaken for this section including, and indicating separately, the cost of tree planting, special measures taken to protect the Epping Forest area, and any other environmental expenditure incurred.

Lord Brabazon of Tara

The final cost of works, land and compensation will be about £120 million. Environmental works account for about £30 million; £131,000 relates to planting and £17.6 million to measures to protect the forest area, including the Bell Common tunnel. The balance includes covering the motorway in the Holmesdale area, protective earthbanks and acoustic fencing, noise insulation and the relocation of sports facilities and of a thatched period cottage.
