§ 81. Mr. Tom Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the current state of East-West relations.
§ Sir Geoffrey HoweWe continue to work for better East-West relations. We welcomed the successful meeting between President Reagan and Mr. Gorbachev, which has helped to establish a measure of understanding between the two leaders. It lends hope for progress in the resolution 181W of the differences between East and West on arms control, regional problems and human rights. We will play a full and active part in this process.
