HC Deb 03 February 1986 vol 91 c15W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the teachers' strike.

Mr. Yeo

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement about the teachers' pay dispute.

Sir Keith Joseph

I refer my hon. Friends to the statement which I gave today.

Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what information he has about the effect on the education of children of the selective disruptive action targeted on particular constituencies; and if he will make a statement.

Sir Keith Joseph

There can be no doubt that disruptive action has adversely affected the education of all the children who have been caught up in it. I deeply regret that. I have no particular evidence on the extent of the damage done to children in targeted areas. I have said many times how much I deplore the attempt by some unions to apply pressure by concentrating disruptive action on areas perceived by them to be politically sensitive.
