HC Deb 03 February 1986 vol 91 c6W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many claims have been received under the Riot (Damages) Act in respect of the riot in Birmingham on 9 and 10 September 1985; how many have been met in full or in part; and how much compensation has been paid out.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The West Midlands county council is the relevant compensation authority for claims under the Riot (Damages) Act 1886 arising from the Handsworth disorders. The Home Office is not involved in the processing of claims.
