Mr. McNamara

asked the Attorney-General how many cases in 1985 concerning scheduled offences have been referred to the Northern Ireland Court of Appeal; and in how many of these referred cases the original conviction has been quashed and upheld.

Records kept by the Department of the Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland of persons who appealed to the Court of Appeal against conviction and/or sentence in respect of convictions of scheduled offences in 1985 show the position to be as follows:
