HC Deb 03 February 1986 vol 91 cc25-6W
Mr. Iain Mills

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make it his policy to delay any decision on developments in the green belt in the area between Birmingham and Coventry until a local plan has been agreed for the area; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Tracey

It is not desirable that decisions on planning applications should be delayed simply because a local plan is in preparation. After 1 April it will be for Solihull and Coventry councils to decide how to carry forward development planning in the area of concern to my hon. Friend, subject to the relevant provisions of planning legislation. A great deal of the area is already confirmed green belt.
