§ Mr. Lang[pursuant to his reply, 12 December 1986, c. 304]: It is not the practice to publish the detailed scenarios prepared by the SSEB for the annual exercising of emergency plans at each nuclear power station. These scenarios are submitted to Her Majesty's Nuclear Installations Inspectorate for acceptance and incorporate a wide variety of accident conditions relevant to the type of reactor and those aspects of the emergency arrangements which are to he demonstrated. Typically the scenarios can incorporate pressure circuit failure, fires, release of radioactive material and injury to personnel. Copies of the scenarios are provided in advance to representatives of the emergency services which are involved and a report on the emergency exercise is made to the local liaison committee. The scenario for the exercise at Torness on 18 September 1986 provided for a simulated depressurisation accident from a reactor.
