HC Deb 19 December 1986 vol 107 c786W
Mr. Dubs

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services which hospitals in London are currently being considered for closure.

Mr. Newton

In London (the former GLC area) there are three hospitals whose total permanent closure and where relevant relocation of services, is either under formal public consultation or where the consultation procedure has been completed but no final decision has yet been taken.

The hospitals are the west London hospital and the Westminster children's hospital in Riverside health authority and St. James' hospital in Wandsworth. My right hon. Friend has today agreed the closure of New Cross hospital in Lewisham and north Southwark, in association with approval in principal for a £35 million new development at Guy's hospital.
