§ Lord Kennetasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they have accepted, explicitly or implicitly, as part of the Ministry of Defence's contracts to study, at United States Army or SDIO expense, "European Architecture", and "Battle Management", that these studies will be "integrated" together with equivalent studies by the Israeli Government and by various Consortia in Europe, the United States, and Japan, in the development of an integrated and interactive system within the Strategic Defence Initiative.
§ Baroness YoungThe Letters of Offer and Acceptance under which the MoD is carrying out theoretical research studies of European Architecture and of Battle Management/Command, Control and Communications, as part of the US SDI research programme, contain no provisions regarding the integration of the results of these studies with other similar studies. It is however to be expected that the results of the various studies will be drawn together as they become available: this is a separate matter from the development of SDI systems, on which our policy remains unchanged.
