§ Mr. Peter Bruinvelsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Deaprtment what consideration has been given to the general adoption in the interest of security of a standard identification card for all representatives of public authorities in regular contact with members of the public.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggWhile it is most important that officials who may enter people's homes should carry proper identity cards and that the public should ask to see them before granting access, I am not convinced that their standardisation offers substantial advantages.
