HC Deb 16 December 1986 vol 107 c474W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what information he has on which part of the Eider Jacket contract won by Highland Fabricators is being done in Japan; if he will state the precise work being done in that country; and what information he has as to the reason for this work being carried out abroad.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

The part of the Eider Jacket contract being done in Japan is the pile clusters (four units); the pre-use work being done is the supply of heavy section plate. The reason for this work being carried out abroad is(a) lowest cost, and (b) guaranteed delivery to suit Highlands Fabricators' requirements.
