§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithThe estimated annual expenditure on research and development related to the recovery of oil and gas resources of the United Kingdom continental shelf is £100 million to £120 million, of which £25 million to £30 million is spent by Government on field delineation, safety, and support for the research and development of United Kingdom suppliers of goods and services. Innovative and cost redundancy technology is crucial to the full exploration and exploitation of the UKCS.
