HC Deb 12 December 1986 vol 107 c300W
Mr. Kirkwood

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the police clear-up rate for murder cases for (a) the northern constabulary, and (b) all police forces in Scotland for the latest year for which figures are available.

Mr. Lang

Provisional figures for 1985 indicate that there were 75 cases which Scottish police forces initially classified as murder and all but one of these cases were solved. Of this total, two cases were recorded and solved by the northern constabulary.
