HC Deb 12 December 1986 vol 107 cc280-1W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, pursuant to the answer of 4 December to the hon. Member for Leicester, East, he will publish details of funding made or to be made available in Leicester for home security measures in 1985–86, 1986–87 and 1987–88; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

It has not been possible to identify expenditure on home security measures in Leicester in 1985–86.

For 1986–87, the Department is making available £242,000 on an estate action project at St. Peter's, Leicester in 1986–87. Of this, over £61,000 will go on security measures related to home security.

In 1987–88, Leicester city council will be able to bid for a share of estate action's increased resources. The size of its eventual allocation, and the proportion of that allocation devoted to security related measures will depend on the specific projects which it puts forward.

I do not know how much of its own resources Leicester has chosen to devote to home security measures.
