§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Energy, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Holborn and St. Pancras, 27 November, Official Report, column 301 (a) what was the increase in his Department's publicity expenditure on civil nuclear power issues and (b) what proportional increase over preceding years this constituted.
§ Mr. GoodladAs I explained in my reply to the hon. Member on 26 June, (c. 270) the Government are making £3.09 million available to the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) in the current financial year to prepare and produce information on civil nuclear power. This is the first year in which payments have been made to the authority on a trading fund basis. I am advised by the UKAEA that the current year's programme is broadly consistent with their expenditure in previous years.
