§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of the Environment (Lord Skelmersdale)No requirement is laid on local planning authorities to seek professional advice of a specific description in making tree preservation orders. This is a matter for the discretion of the authority concerned. Such an authority may revoke or modify an order at any time, under Section 287 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1971.
