§ 31. Mr. Ray Powellasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he is taking to resolve the dispute with France over lamb sales.
§ Mr. JoplingWe made very strong representations to the French Government at the time of the interference with our lamb exports during October. That interference subsequently ceased. Various measures have been proposed within the European Community to deal with the situation on the sheepmeat market. We shall resist any measures which discriminate against British producers or traders.
§ 36. Mr. Torneyasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will take retaliatory action against France if any tax or duty is imposed upon British sheep entering France.
§ Mr. JoplingThe treaty provides for the Commission and for member states to take proceedings against any member state which may be in breach of its treaty obligations.
