Mr. John Mark Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received seeking the inclusion of Mucodyne within the limited drug list; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. NewtonWe have received many letters and other representations about the drug Mucodyne and other oral mucolytics. The Advisory Committee on National Health Service Drugs has considered these drugs on a number of occasions and following its advice oral mucolytics have been made available under the National Health Service only for patients with specified conditions. Following further representations from the manufacturers the advisory committee has again reviewed the position of Mucodyne and we are presently considering the committee's recommendations.
