§ 26. Mr. Millanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will introduce legislation to strengthen the law against the harassment of tenants by private landlords and the abuse by such landlords of the housing benefit system.
§ Mr. RifkindI am satisfied that the law against harassment of tenants is adequate. The Government's plans for reforming the housing benefit scheme, as set out in the White Paper on the "Reform of Social Security" (Cmnd. 9691), include strengthening the arrangements to prevent abuse.
