§ Mr. Lathamasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement on the work to date of the ad hoc committee on the prevention of an arms race in outer space.
§ Mr. RentonThe ad hoc committee had useful discussions in 1985, particularly on the legal regime in outer space on which the United Kingdom tabled a well received paper. No mandate has yet been agreed for a committee in 1986, but we hope this will be possible soon.
