asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what proportion of Sea Fish Industry Authority grants is allocated to English and Welsh ports.

As I said in reply to the hon. Member for Carmarthen (Dr. Thomas) on 6 March, at column 259, these grants are not proportionally allocated but are available for approved projects throughout the United Kingdom. In the financial year 1985–86 a total of 682 projects in England and Wales were approved, and this represents 42 per cent. of the total.
