HC Deb 10 April 1986 vol 95 c170W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the number of open-plan designed primary schools in Scotland; and what assessment has been made of the success of this design.

Mr. Allan Stewart

Information on the number of open-plan designed primary schools in Scotland is not held centrally. The Scottish Council for Research in Education and various colleges of education have carried out assessments of aspects of teaching and learning in open-plan primary schools in Scotland, of which the most recent is contained in SCRE's "Management and Organisation in a Variety of Open-Plan Primary Schools" (1982).
