HL Deb 07 April 1986 vol 473 cc72-3WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether discussions have been held between the relevant European governments and the Contadora and Central American governments concerning the provision for a civilian monitoring commission to operate along the Costa Rica-Nicaraguan border, and if so with what results.

Baroness Hooper

None. But President Monge of Costa Rica has stated that no agreement on a border commission yet exists with Nicaragua. He also reiterated the importance of reaching a comprehensive agreement on the region's problems. We support this view.
