§ Mr. Soleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state for each year since 1979 the number of officers of the metropolitan police who were assaulted in the course of duty where any of the following charges were laid against the assailant and also state the number of such charges in each category: (a) actual bodily harm, (b) grievous bodily harm, (c) wounding with intent, (d) manslaughter and (e) murder.
§ Mr. Giles ShawI understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that information about charges brought against people who assaulted Metropolitan police officers on duty is not readily available except in relation to offences of homicide. That information is given in the following table.
