§ Mr. Giles ShawThe sum of £243,000 was allocated in the Metropolitan police estimates for 1985–86 for firearms and related equipment; the bulk of this was for ammunition, primers and propellent powders, holsters, body armour and electronic target systems. Some £15,000 was set aside for the purchase of new firearms, comprising revolvers and shotguns to replace worn out training models, some additional rifles and any weapons that may be required for evaluation.
