What plans they have to issue codes of practice in accordance with Sections 66 and 67 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

My right honourable friend the Home Secretary has today laid before Parliament draft codes in accordance with Section 66 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984. It is our intention to bring them into operation with effect from 1st January 1986 by order made by statutory instrument and my right honourable friend will seek the approval by resolution of each House of Parliament as soon as possible.
