asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether weighbridge sites for checkweighing lorries are to be provided (a) on the M25 or (b) elsewhere on the motorway system.

Yes. A weighbridge enforcement site should be completed at the Leatherhead Interchange, M25, this year. It is hoped to provide one at the M20/M25/A20 interchange at Swanley, Kent, at a later date. Other motorway sites in operation are as follows:

M62 (junction 24) —Ailney Top, Yorkshire
M62 A627 (M) —Thornham, Lancashire
M5/A449 —Warndon, Warwickshire
M45/A45 —Dunchurch, Warwickshire
M6 (between junctions 13 and 14) —Quinton, West Midlands
M1 (junction 18) —Doxey, Staffordshire
M1 (near junction 20) —Crick, Northamptonshire
M4 (junction 24) —Lutterworth, Leicestershire
M4 (A46) —Coldra, Gwent
M1 (junction 14) —Tormerton, Avon
M11 (junction 7) —Harlow, Essex
M9/A54 —Craigforth, Stirling

Additionally, the following motorway sites are in the forward programme:

M1 (junction 36) —Tankersley, Yorkshire
M180/A18 —Ermine Street, Lincolnshire
M6 (junction 23) —Robb Lane, Cheshire
M5/A373 —Sampford Perevell, Devon
M1 —Haigh Roundabout, Yorkshire
M61/A58 —Westhoughton, Lancashire
M50 (junction 4) —Ross-on-Wye, Hereford
