HC Deb 22 May 1985 vol 79 cc469-70W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what consideration he has given to the consequences for deaf children of the closedown of Jessop Accoustics of Bethnal Green; if there is any action he is taking; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Newton

Jessop Accoustics produced radio microphone hearing aids which are used by many hearing-impaired children, mainly in an educational setting, although they were not the major supplier. I understand that the receiver who has been appointed for the company hopes to be able to sell it as a going concern, which should safeguard the interests of past and future customers.
