asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether 300 Centaur vehicles made by Laird (Anglesey) Ltd. are intended to be sold to Chile and if so whether they will oppose the sale in view of the position of the Chilean Government on human rights.

We have not received an application from Laird (Anglesey) Ltd. for an export licence for Centaur vehicles to Chile. A temporary export licence for demonstration purposes was granted for a single Centaur in January 1984. Any other application would be considered carefully, taking into account all prevailing circumstances.
