§ 40. Mr. Speedasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the numbers of customs officers available for the interception and detection of drugs at Heathrow, Gatwick, Dover and Harwich, respectively, at the present time and for the same period in 1984, 1979 and 1974.
§ Mr. HayhoeCustoms staff are responsible for carrying out a variety of tasks, including collection of revenue and enforcement of prohibitions and restrictions. These tasks often overlap. It is not therefore possible to list the numbers of staff available for drug detection duties at any particular time.
