asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many decisions regarding asylum he made in 1984; and how many outstanding applications there are.

Mr. Waddington

During 1984 decisions were reached on about 1,900 applications for asylum. Provisional figures indicate that there were some 4,390 applications outstanding as at 31st March 1985, excluding those from Vietnamese refugees.
