§ Mr. Norman LamontThe Government's overall objective is to encourage the maximum development and international competitiveness of the United Kingdom as a tourist destination. The Government aim to do this by removing obstacles to tourism and supporting the tourist boards. The vast majority of tourism investment will of course be funded by the private sector, which I hope will increasingly recognise the growth potential of tourism and leisure.
