HC Deb 25 March 1985 vol 76 c102W
Miss Maynard

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what improvements have been carried out at the British military base at Forkhill in County Armagh since 1979; what is the purpose of these improvements; and what is the cost.

Mr. Lee

Between 1978 and 1982 the Royal Engineers constructed a permanent building, replacing temporary ones, at the joint RUC/military base at Forkhill, County Armagh at a cost of £1 million. Since 1982 a number of other minor improvements have been undertaken at a further cost of approximately £200,000, which includes some £50,000 for the purchase of previously requisitioned land and some £100,000 for the demolition of disused buildings.
