§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when the Atomic Energy Authority proposes to report on the study it has undertaken into the behaviour of radionuclides in geological formations beyond repositories; and whether its findings will be disclosed to the public.
§ Mr. WaldegraveThe United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority is carrying out a number of research projects, under contract to my Department, on the behaviour of radionuclides in geological formations. Some will be completed this summer, and the remainder in the first half of next year. In addition, my Department publishes an annual report summarising the results from all research undertaken as part of its radioactive waste management research programme. Copies of the annual reports are in the Library of the House. Reports on these projects will be made publicly available by my Department through the British Library Lending Division, as has already happened with previous projects in the same programme.
