HC Deb 07 March 1985 vol 74 cc538-9W
Mr. Andrew MacKay

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his current projection of housing needs in the south-east between now and the end of the century; and how this differs from the projections made in 1980.

Sir George Young

Such projections have not been made in the form implied, for the reasons explained in my replies to the hon. Member for Walsall, North (Mr. Winnick) on 1 March at column 296.

I am, however, awaiting with interest the outcome of the studies currently being undertaken by SERPLAN which are expected to cover the problem of future demand for housing land.
