HC Deb 05 March 1985 vol 74 c434W
Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he proposes to seek to visit Thailand in the near future to discuss the problem of Cambodian refugees.

Mr. Rifkind

No. But we are in close and frequent contact with the Thai authorities on refugee matters and my hon. Friend the Member for Shoreham (Mr. Luce) expects to discuss the problem of Cambodian refugees with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees this month.

Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will propose another international conference on the problem of refugees in south-east asia with particular reference to Cambodian refugees in Thailand.

Mr. Rifkind

We have no plans to do so, but we continue to keep closely in touch with other Governments and with relief organisations about the best means of handling and resolving the distressing problems of refugees in south-east Asia.
