§ Mr. Foulkesasked the Secretary of State for Defence what safety regulations govern the number of nuclear submarines permitted to berth at any one time in the Holy Loch; and whether these have been breached in the last year.
§ Mr. HeseltineSafety regulations concerning the use of Holy Loch by the United States Navy govern factors other than the number of nuclear powered submarines which may be present there at any one time. These regulations have satisfied successive Governments. I am informed that there has been no breach of these regulations over the past year.
