HC Deb 04 March 1985 vol 74 c365W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what have been the figures for crime committed in the Falkland Islands in respect of offences of violence, drug taking and illegal immigration in the most recently available annual period; and if he will make a statement on the trend in these figures.

Mr. Renton

In the last 12 months there have been 14 convictions on charges of violence and four on drugs offences. We are not aware of any prosecutions under the immigration ordinance. Levels of crime remain low, viewed in relation to the presence in the Islands of over 2,000 unaccompanied construction personnel.
