HC Deb 04 March 1985 vol 74 c392W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Prime Minister what is the expected increase in own resources of the EEC in the current year in real terms; what this represents in terms of 1984 European currency units; and how much of this amount would go to agriculture if the share taken by agriculture remained the same as in 1984.

The Prime Minister

The expected increase in 1985 in the total revenues available to the Community within the existing 1 per cent. VAT ceiling is 3.3 per cent. in real terms, equal to 840 mecus in 1984 values. Of this 588 mecus would be spent on agriculture if the agricultural share of the budget remained at its 1984 level.
