HC Deb 24 June 1985 vol 81 c295W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will list the areas from which he has received representations about alleged coincidence between the presence of a Central Electricity Generating Board or United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority nuclear establishment and above average rates of cancer; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Goodlad

I understand that allegations have been made about a number of AEA and CEGB sites. There is no medical evidence to suggest that cancer rates in the vicinity of AEA and CEGB nuclear installations are higher than those in other parts of the country. I deeply deplore the claims that have been made to the contrary and the unnecessary anxiety that they have caused.
